Diversion tunnel to divert blast of an attack, a short ways inside the entrance, actual entrance was a left turn just before the diversion tunnel

We were not allowed to photograph the left turn or guard desk at that point

Original (1957) situation room. Two windows at back are for nuclear & overall command.

Nuclear? "We've never had nuclear weapons on Norwegian soil," but we can send a few your way.

These are all photos of the newer situation room contructed deeper in the mountain around ~1970.

At some point they realized that the phsysical facility would survive a nuclear attack but that the intense shaking & vibration would kill or seriously injure the occupants..

This new situation room was built on large coil springs to damp the vibrations from an attack.

Decontamination showers

Briefing room, board would light up the level of security clearance needed to attend a briefing.

I rather like the sound of "Cosmic Top Secret".
