HISTORY OSLO AMERICAN DEPENDENT SCHOOL
In 1949 a private school was organized to provide educational facilities to American children whoes [
sic] parents were stationed in Oslo and to other interested nationalities.
From 1949 until 1954 the school was located at Oscarsgate 9, a private villa. Mrs. Martha Clausen was the first principal, followed by Mrs. Gladis Johnson.
In September 1954 the Air Force dependent school system took over the school with the faculty currently employed. A World War II barracks type building was remodernized and used from November 1954 until December 1960.
In January 1961 the school moved into its present location. Over the years additional teachers and grades were added. The initial four teachers and eight grades have been expanded to eighteen classroom teachers with grades one through ten.
In January 1967 the Army was given the responsibility of operating all dependent schools in Europe.
